Some images of Dresden

The famous Frauenkirche, destroyed in the bombing of Dresden in February 1945.  It was rebuilt and opened in 2005.

The darker building blocks are part of the original building, and stood as part of the ruin after 1945.  An IBM computer programme was used to locate the exact place the old pieces should go during re-construction.  The new sandstone blocks will eventually go dark too, being exposed to the air.
